Urs sent his Cannondale bike for retirement and he will join the grand depard on his new Crema steel bike that he found on the second hand market.

Michele Miani the 2nd finisher of Iberica Traversa 2020, only 5h55min. behind Aleksander Olek Pachulski. Michele never stayed in a hotel room, carried no sleeping gear and stopped only for quick power naps. What a character.

Michele is a winner of NC4K 2019 and finisher of TABR 2017.

Kai Edel is coming back

Kai Edel is coming back to accomplished his Swiss-BikeAdventure. Last year Kai struggled with flat tyres and run out of time. From Andermatt he cycled In the rain over Furkapass-Grimselpass and Brünigpass to Luzern to make it back to his work on time.

Kai is well known to self supported ultra cycling scene. Trans Am Bike Race 2016, Indian Pacific Wheel Race 2017, NorthCape-Tarifa 2018 (2nd finisher and still 2nd fastest time), Tour Divide 2019, Hope1000 2020 and Swiss Bike Adventure 2020.

We are happy to see Kai Edel again in one of our events. Welcome back Kai, looking forward to see you soon in Andermatt!

Chasseral

The Jura, mostly underrated, is not less hard as the passes in the Alps. The small, empty roads are a paradise for cycling in Switzerland. The highest point on this section is with 1607m the Chasseral.

Furkapass

The Furkapass is for the second time part of the route. This year you will climb it from the west side. You get breathtaking views to the Grimselpass road and the Bernese Alps. For those who start at the Grand Depard June 26th, it’s the last climb and a great downhill brings you down to the finish at Andermatt.

The registration will close in 2 days.

New for the 2021 edition

New for this edition of Swiss Bike Adventure route:

Coming down from San Bernardino pass, the route follows the Ticino river to it’s source at the top of Nufenenpass.Nufenen Pass is with 2478m the highest mountain pass with a paved road within Switzerland and the 10th highest paved road in the Alps. It was the last mountain pass road paved in Switzerland and opened September 1969. From the top you get spectacular views of the Bernese Alps, including the Finsteraarhorn and the Gries Glacier to the south.photos: Views from the top of Nufenenpass.

First climb from Wassen to the Sustenpass. The Sustenpass is expected to be open the day before the grand depart.

ITT from July 8th on

Because of much more snow in the Swiss mountains as usual this time of the year and still snowing at high altitude again, Sustenpass is now expected to be open June 25th. As a result of this, ITT will be possible from July 8th on.
